Thinking about legal aid?
While we unfortunately do not offer legal aid, as eligibility is limited via means assessment, we can help clients explore other ways to fund legal support. Speak to our team for further advice regarding your legal matters.
Like most firms of solicitors dealing with Court procedures, Goodwins Family Law Solicitors – part of Collins & Hoy Solicitors – has a fee structure based on how much time we spend on a case as well as the seniority of the person responsible for your case.
There are two exceptions to this rule:
Competitive Fee Structure
Given our degree of specialisation and experience, we consider our hourly fees very competitive, especially compared to other specialist and general law firms in Central London who charge considerably more due to their central location.
At the fixed fee meeting you are provided with one of our client care letters, which details our terms and conditions, how much we charge, including hourly rates, and details of our fixed fee divorce rate.
When you formally enlist our services, we will then write to you with a costs estimate tailored to the individual circumstances of your case. Then, as your case progresses, we provide you with regular costs information to keep you informed as to the level of costs you are incurring and are likely to incur in the future.
When we bill you for our work, you will receive a narrative describing the work done, as well as a detailed breakdown of how every penny of your fees has been calculated.
We understand that some people may wish to conduct their proceedings on their own but might require our advice and assistance as and when required. This is a service we are able to offer. We do not undertake publicly funded (Legal Aid) work.
In certain circumstances it may be possible to obtain an order from the Court that orders the other party to be responsible for all or part of your costs. If this applies to your case, we will explore this in full with you.
Consistency, quality and sensitivity are the key elements of our approach to each case. Our expert team will deal with your situation with the utmost professionalism and sensitivity, whilst striving to reach the best possible outcome.
