Cohabitation Agreements & Disputes

Working to advise and resolve cohabitation disputes to reach the fairest, least-stressful resolution for you and your family

Cohabitation Agreements & Disputes

If you share a property with your partner, and that property is owned under both your names, then you may be entitled to half of the property, regardless of how much you invested in it. If you and your partner signed a cohabitation agreement beforehand, however, then you will usually be entitled to the amount that is in the agreement.

Goodwins Family Law Solicitors can assist you with the drawing up and finalising of cohabitation agreements, meaning that you are protected from unnecessary costs and legal disputes in the event of your relationship breaking down.

We ensure that all cohabitation agreements are clearly defined in order to help you and your partner fully understand what happens to your property as a result of any future separation.

Whatever you and your partner need from your agreement – whether you’re managing many high net worth assets, or just wish to have a fair, simple agreement in place for peace of mind – our personable legal team will guide you towards a favourable result.

Cohabitation Disputes

For unmarried couples, cohabitation disputes tend to arise where there is no cohabitation agreement to refer to in the event of a relationship breaking down. When no cohabitation agreement is in place, then a court application may be required in order to resolve the dispute.

We’ve honed our skills in cohabitation disputes, with high client satisfaction rates and over 25 years of experience in family law cases – including cases involving high net worth clients and assets. If such a dispute arises within your relationship, we’re the people you can trust to handle your case.

At Goodwins, we understand the stress that can be caused by these disputes, and we will work hard to resolve any issues efficiently and fairly, ensuring you and your children can continue with your lives with the least disruption possible.

Our legal team treat each and every cohabitation case with the utmost sensitivity, and our clients remain fully informed and completely prepared throughout the case proceedings.
